Soviet pilot high altitude pressure helmet. Model ZSh-5A.
Zsh-5A high-altitude helmet was
standard Soviet issue for its fighter pilots in the 1970's and early
1980's. Heavily padded fiberglass shell coated in white enamel. Earphones
built into soft inner helmet. Pull down sun visor. There is a compensation
bladder at the back of the helmet that connects to the oxygen mask - when the demand for
oxygen is increased, the bladder fills, pressing the pilot's mouth &
nose more tightly into the oxygen mask. In very
good condition. Serial-numbered. Pilot's name (in Russian) on many. Does
not come with oxygen mask. Awesome display piece for an
aviator's home, office or museum! learn
